The Sweeney Alliance has been a leader in educational resources addressing the emotional needs of families and professionals since 1992. Our success has been based upon these principles:

TSA advocates for the physical, mental and emotional wellness of all emergency first responders and public safety personnel [career or volunteer] and their families in North America.

TSA reaches out to firefighters, EMS, law enforcement and correctional officers, and 911 dispatchers primarily through city, state and federal agencies and departments; secondarily, through websites, social media, and conferences.

TSA understands that every first responder has individual needs and rights.

TSA believes in the importance of teaching fundamental skills to cope with the mental and emotional issues that arise following a death of one of their own. This is accomplished through the Grieving Behind the Badge program, bereavement resources and private dialogue.

TSA structures each Grieving Behind the Badge program to meet the specific needs of the requesting agency or department. This includes, but is not limited to:

i) Presenting basic grief education, with special attention given to bereaved parents, grieving children, community servants and survivors of suicide.

ii) Addressing the importance of seeking professional help for depression and / or addiction, which may develop or worsen during the grief journey

iii) Allowing attendees to interact with the instructors during class time or privately.
